Marie S. Hathaway

   Marie Stoddard Hathaway, 86 of Rexburg died Mar. 21, 2009 in the Idaho Falls Health and Rehab.

Marie was born Dec. 18, 1922 at Egin, Idaho the daughter of Leslie and Lucille Stoddard. She was the fifth of ten children. She grew up in Parker, ID. where she attended her elementary schooling graduating from South Fremont High School.

She married her high school sweetheart Bud O. Hathaway on Sept. 28, 1943 in the Logan , Utah LDS Temple while he was on leave from the U.S. Air Force during World War 2.
Marie was a active member of the LDS Church serving in many callings and was always a visiting teacher up until about two years ago.

She worked as a secretary for several places including O. E. Bell Jr. High, JcPenney’s, and the City of Rexburg. She and Bud with the rest of the family, operated many different cafes from Idaho Falls to Island Park. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family. She and her brother and sisters have been close their entire lives. Bud died June 1, 1987. Marie continued to live in Rexburg for many years. She had a life full of love and happiness, and was a very compassionate person with many friends. Her children and grandchildren loved her very much and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by three of their four children- Irene (Del) DeCoria, Idaho Falls, ID.; Vickie Hill, St. Anthony, ID.; Maurice Hathaway, Phoenix, Arizona. Siblings - Marion (Blanche) Stoddard, Egin, ID.; Vae Mace, Parker, ID.; Beatrice Stone, St. Anthony, ID.; Harold (Norma) Stoddard, Rexburg, ID.; Frank (Donna) Stoddard, Grace, ID.; Louis Stoddard, Egin, ID.; Phyllis (Ray) Bradshaw, Menan, ID.; 17 Grandchildren, 32 Great Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter Shaunna Miles, a brother Maurice and a sister Vida Crapo.

Funeral services will be Conducted Saturday, Mar. 28, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the Parker LDS Church with a nephew Bishop Jed Stoddard, officiating. Friends may call Saturday at the Parker Church from 12 noon until the time of services. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery under the direction of the Bidwell Funeral Home.
