Vera Baldwin

   Vera Mae Baldwin 97, a longtime resident of the Teton City area and the Granddaughter of Beaver Dick Leigh, died Feb. 26, 2009 in the Ashton Memorial Nursing Home.

Vera was born August 4, 1911 at Shelly, Idaho The daughter of Kit Carson Thompson and Emma Leigh Thompson. She attended her elementary schooling at Upper Presto Elementary in Firth. She attended two years at the Sherman Indian Riverside High School in Riverside California. She also attended two years at the Bacone Indian College in Muskogee, Oklahoma where she received her associates degree.

She married John Roland Baldwin April 12, 1945 at Dillion Montana. They made their home near Teton City. Vera worked for many years for the State of Idaho at the Youth Services Center near St. Anthony where she served as director of food services. She retired in l986. Mr. Baldwin died in April of 2003.

She is survived by her children, Sandra L. (Blair) Owens, Boise, ID.; and Martin J. (Larale) Baldwin, Spokane, WA.; 4 Grandchildren 9 Great Grandchildren . Besides her husband she was preceded in death 4 Brothers 1 sister, one Granddaughter and one Grandson.

Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Good Shepherd Cemetery at Fort Hall, ID. with Rev. Stan Simpson, Officiating. Friends may call at the Bidwell Funeral Home in St. Anthony Monday evening from 6 to 7 p.m.
