   In loving memory of Evelyn Anna Lindstrom who was born Dec. 8, 1921 the daughter of John and Eleanor Haroldsen Lindstrom in her grandmother Haroldsen's home in St. Leon, Id., died Sept. 22, 2010 at the age of 88.

Evelyn was the fourth of six children. Her siblings, Morgan (Deceased), Alice Shumaker, Bremerton, WA.; Inga DaBell Tyler, Grant, ID.; Marjorie (Melvin) Anderson, Inkom, ID.; and Virgil (Joyce) Lindstrom. Lewisville, ID.; Besides her parents and brother Morgan she was preceded in death by a niece Debonee DaBell and brothers-in-laws, Clayton DaBell, Fenton Tyler and John Shumaker.

Evelyn grew up on the family farm in Lewisville, ID.; At the age of 9, she caught Spinal Meningitis and lost her hearing. What a blessing it was that she already knew how to talk and had a few years of public school to face this challenge.

Her further education included graduation from the Idaho State School for the Deaf and Blind, Midway High School, Ricks College, BYU and Gallaudet University for the Deaf in Washington D C where she earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education. Her teaching career spanned 31 years at the State School for the Deaf in Gooding, Idaho.

After retiring, Evelyn moved back to Lewisville, ID. During this time she served an LDS mission to the deaf in Guatemala City. Family was very important to her. Her missionary work continued with monetary contributions to nieces and nephews on their various missions.

Evelyn had a great love for her four-legged friends. She imagined there would be a host of canine members of her household awaiting her in Heaven. Evelyn spent her life in service to others among whom were her deaf friends. She will be greatly missed by her family including her numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Sept. 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lewisville LDS Church with Bishop James Gneiting, officiating. Friends may call at the Church Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in the Lewisville Cemetery under the direction of the Bidwell Funeral Home.
