Virginia Grende Mathie

   Virginia Grende Mathie , our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. A former resident of St. Anthony died suddenly of natural causes, Sept. 2, 2010 at her home near Shelley, Idaho.

Virginia was born May 26, 1934 at Chester Idaho the daughter of Clyde Dallas and Anna Borresen Grende. She was the third of five children and grew up in the Sugar Salem, area where she attended school.

She married Vearl Harris and they had two sons, Ronnie & Stacey, they were later divorced. Virginia met her soul mate Gene at the Linderman ranch in Clementsville, ID., while visiting family. She followed him to California, where they both worked until moving back to Idaho. After marrying, they made their livelihood working for Shane & Bette Linderman for a number of years. They made their home in St. Anthony, where Gin worked at various jobs, along with raising four daughters.

Mom was her childrens best friend. She would go without, so us kids could have the things we wanted. It was never hard to talk mom into a new pet. Mom always had her own little companion, she loved her lap dogs. “Puppy will be lost with out her. The Mathie home was the gathering place for all occasions, whether it be coffee drinking, card playing, or just everyday visits.

Virginia opened Sundial Tanning in l988 out of her home, in St. Anthony, she made many friends until closing in 2004. Virginia worked her whole life of being a family care taker of all those she loved. She took pride in all she accomplished and never took anything for granted. She will be deeply missed. She and Gene moved to the Shelley area in 2005.

She is survived by her husband Gene of Shelley, Children, Stacey (Crissy) Harris, St. Anthony, Suzette (Ken) McCay, Newdale, ID.; Lona Mathie, Idaho Falls, ID.; Shelly Mathie, Shelley, ID.; a brother Don (Pam) Grende, Teton, ID.; and a sister Marie (Dean) Tuckett, Chester 11 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers Roy and Verl and son Ronnie, daughter Tauna and one Granddaughter Rawna

In honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of Bidwell Funeral Home with private burial in the St. Anthony Riverview cemetery.
