Boyd N. Josephson

   Boyd Neal Josephson, 84, of Egin Bench, Idaho, passed away May 12, 2015 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Boyd was born January 9, 1931 in Heman, Idaho, to Isaac Versal and Hilda Rhodehouse Josephson. He was the 5th of 6 children.

Boyd graduated from Sugar-Salem High School in 1949 and served an LDS mission in the Northwestern States. Upon his return, he continued his education at Ricks College where he studied education and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in the last 4-year program offered through Ricks College. He played the saxophone in high school and college as a member of the marching band. Boyd taught elementary school in the Sugar-Salem School District and the Granite School District in Salt Lake City, UT.

He met Ella Mabel Butler in 1959 and they were married on June 1, 1961 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple. Boyd and Mabel had three children, Celia (Stephen) Griffin, of Newton, UT; Coleen Cooley of Boise, ID; and Neal Boyd (Janet) Josephson of Salem, ID. They spent the next 12 years with their 3 children in Salt Lake City where Boyd sold life insurance and Fuller Brush and in 1973 moved back to his hometown of Egin Bench, where he began farming and continued to sell Fuller Brush, and served a short time on the Parker Cemetery Board.

Boyd was strong in his faith within the LDS church and served in many callings, including bishop. He and his wife served as ordinance workers in the Idaho Falls Temple for more than 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 grandchild. He is survived by his wife, Mabel, his 3 children, 7 grandchildren; Jett and Sage Griffin, Tabree (Aaron) McCoy, Brindee (Matt) Burchfield, Kevin, Kurt and Katie Josephson. Great-grandchildren Mylee McCoy and Ruger Burchfield. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the LDS General Missionary Fund or your favorite charity.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Parker 2nd Ward with Bishop Brent Williams, Officiating. Friends may call at the Bidwell Funeral Home Friday evening from 6 to 7 and at the Parker Church Saturday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery.
