Elinor May Carlson

   Our loving, devoted mother and grandmother, Elinor May Carey Carlson, 85 died at her home on April 6 after a valiant struggler with cancer.
She was born Oct. 19, 1925 in Chicosa, Los Animus Co., Colorado to Joseph Park Carey and Mildred Davis. She was raised and educated in Trinidad Colorado. She became a school teacher and married Leland Wesley Carlson on June 3, 1946. On June 8, 1961 they were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served many years in Primary, Sunday School and as a Stake Relief Society Education Leader.
She will be remembered for her strong devotion to her family and great love for her grandchildren. She had a great appreciation for music and passed that quality onto her posterity. She always had many projects going on at once. Among her accomplishments were many quilts, reupholstered furniture, braided rugs, Christmas books and many other skill used to improve her home. The community enjoyed the popcorn balls, doughnuts, fudge and candies she made for special occasions. Her main goal in life was to raise a family. Sharing time, wisdom, love and service were just a few of her talents which she continually gave to family and friends.
She taught her family the importance of work, emphasizing that what you put into life, it will come back to you.
Survivors include her brother Park Carey of Alamosa Colorado, Four sons, Carl (Sandy) Salem, ID. Don (Janice) Moreland, ID.; Lynn (laurie) St. Anthony, ID.; Calvin (Myra) Kaysville, UT. and daughter Karen (Phil) Mayne, Brigham City, UT.; 27 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband in June of 2009 a sister Maridell Sykes and a son Wesley Merle and three great grandchildren.
On behalf of the family we would like to thank “Idaho Home, Health and Hospice” for their kindness and support during this difficult time and wish to express our sincere appreciation to them. We also express gratitude to friends and neighbors for their expressions of sympathy and kindness towards our family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Apr. 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Parker Second LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Brent William's, officiating. Friends may call at the Parker Church Friday Apr. 8 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on
Saturday. Interment will be in the Ashton Cemetery under the direction of the Bidwell Funeral Home.
