   Errol Compton Johnson 86, passed away April 22, 2015 at his home in Wilford following a lingering illness.Errol was born Feb. 27, 1929 at Wilford, Idaho the son of Lars Eric and Ruby Edith Compton Johnson. He grew up in Wilford attending 1-8 grades in the Wilford Grade School. He graduated from the Sugar Salem High School.

He married Myrtie Mortensen on June 17, 1953 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. At the time Errol was enlisted in the U. S. Army and was honorably discharges in April of 1956. They made their home in Wilford where they have since resided. Errol farmed and ranched all of his life.

He was a member of the LDS Church and served in the 4-H. He also participated in the Boy Scouts of America and received their highest award “The Sliver Beaver”. He served as the President and Secretary of the Wilford Canal for years, and was custodian of the Teton Elementary school for over 10 years. He loved to fish on the Teton River, ride horses, rodeos and looked for arrow heads. He also supported his children in the school activities.

He is survived by his wife Myrtie of Wilford. Children - Roger (Heather) Johnson, California, Randy (Mary Ellen) Johnson, Canada, Russ (Tanna) Johnson, South Dakota, Jolynn Johnson, St. Anthony, ID.; and Rob (Holly) Johnson, Ammon, ID.; There are also 18 Grandchildren and 31 Great Grandchildren . Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters - Merle Hunter and Gwenna Mortensen and one brother - Lynn Johnson.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Wilford Church with Bishop John Sharp, officiating. Friends may call at the Bidwell Funeral Home Friday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and at the church saturday one hour prior to the time of services. Interment will be in the Wilford Cemetery where military rites will be performed by the St. Anthony V.F.W. and American Legion.
