Garth E. Rose

   Garth Rose 64, former Mayor and city councilman of St. Anthony, passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011 in the Rexburg Care Center surrounded by his wife and children.

Garth was born Jan. 28, 1946 at St. Anthony the youngest of 9 children of George and Mabel Rawlins Rose.

He spent most of his life in St. Anthony except for a few years in Ogden, Utah. While in Ogden he met his lifelong companion Ann Smith. They were married May 29, 1968 in Ogden, Ut. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, Nov. 29, 1980 along with being sealed to their three children. Garth was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family.

Garth love the people of St. Anthony. He served as city councilman for eleven years and as Mayor for one. He always strived to do the best for all of the people and never met one he didn’t leave as a friend.

He enjoyed working with the youth in the community and church. He took many trips with the young men.

He worked at the Idaho Stud Mill until it closed and then with his brother at the Cougar Corner. A Job that he really loved was at Thrifty Car Sales as a salesman.

He is survived by his wife Ann, - Children, Wyatt (Karen) Rose, Teton, ID.; Chad (Jeanne) Rose, Idaho Falls, ID.; Sydni (Steve) Spencer, Draper, UT.; and seven Grandchildren. Siblings - Duane (Bobbi) Rose, Doyle (Linnele) Rose, Merrill (Patty) Rose, Ron Lynett) Rose, Veda Mae Dalley, Verla (Laren) Terry. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Dean & Gary.

Services will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Anthony LDS Stake Center (247 East 4th North) with Bishop Kyle Moore, Officiating. Friends may call at the Stake Center Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 10:00 until 10:45 just prior to the services. Burial will be in the Wilford Cemetery under the direction of the Bidwell Funeral Home.
