Gayle Rumsey

   Carrol “Gayle” Rumsey 80, passed away peacefully on Friday Mar. 20, 2015, in his home in Egin, Idaho, surrounded by family.

Gayle was born Mar. 10, 1935 in Parker, ID. the son of Carroll Frank and Gladys Miller Rumsey. He was joined by sisters, Helen and Margie, and brothers, Scott and John. He grew up in Egin Bench. In l953 he graduated from the St. Anthony High School. Gayle worked hard on the family farm for his dad. When he ws finished haying each year, one of his fondest memories was going to Island Park to fish with his friends for a couple of weeks.

In the fall of 1954 Gayle met Luella Kauer. They were engaged i n Mar. of 1955 and were married on June 14, 1955. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in l961. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June of this year. They made their home in Egin, Idaho where Gayle was involved in farming all of his life. He served on the Parker Cemetery board for several years.

His greatest joy was his family and friends. Some of the things Gayle and Luella enjoyed most were spending time with family and friends fishing and camping, having sand hill parties or Saturday night suppers, and square dancing. Gayle enjoyed motorcycles and snowmobiles and has several racing trophies.

Gayle was the first person to receive an experimental LVAD heart pump in Salt Lake in l993. 87 days after the LVAD he received a heart transplant. By his wishes he has donated his heart to help further research and to help the lives of others. After the transplant he and Luella enjoyed many more years working together in their yard and garden and enjoying their large posterity.

Gayle was preceded in death by a son, Russell Dan Rumsey; a grandson, Colton Gayle Rumsey and his parents.

He is survived by his wife Luella of Egin, Children; Kurt (Laurie) Rumsey, Jerome, ID, Audrey (Ted) Brackenbury, Boxeman, MT, Arlene (Wynn) Anderson, Plano, ID, Jeannette (Alan) Morton, Boise, ID, Denton (BJ) Rumsey, Egin, ID, Lynn (Leah) Rumsey, Salem, ID, Lyle (Michele) Rumsey, Egin, ID: Siblings - Helen (Golden) Orr, Plano, ID, Margie (Loren) Gardner, Scott (Norene) Rumsey, John (Marilyn Rumsey all of Egin, ID. He is also survived by 36 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren with one on the way. several nieces and nephews.

The Rumsey Family would like to give a special thanks to the family of the heart donor giving 21 more precious years. They would also like to thank the many doctors, nurses and other medical personnel involved in his care over the years.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Mar. 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Egin Bench LDS Church with Bp. LaVar Hunter, officiating. Friends may call at the Bidwell Funeral Home Friday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and at the Egin LDS Church Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 just prior to the services.
