Harold Devere Blanchard

   Harold Devere Blanchard 84, a lifelong resident of the Chester area passed away Jan. 5, 2014 at his home in Chester following a lingering illness.

Harold was born Oct. 10, 1929 at Chester, ID. the son of Henry Devere and Mary Rebecca Hansen Blanchard. He grew up and attended his schooling in Chester.

He married Georgia Lou Baker on Feb. 4, 1950 in Ashton, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Chester where they have since resided.

Harold farmed and was a lumberjack, and delivered the Post Register for many years. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, telling stories, handyman and made fantastic beef jerky.

He is survived by his wife Georgia of Chester, ID.; Children Kim Devere Blanchard, Los Angeles, CA.; Janina Blanchard Messenger, Meridian, ID.; and Michele (Kody) Stewart, Ashton, ID. a sister Wilma Petersen, Idaho Falls, ID.; and a brother Dean Ray Blanchard, Chester, ID.; 13 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one sister Norma Powell, two sons Troy Harold Blanchard and Denny Joseph Blanchard and one daughter Katherine Marie Clark.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday Jan. 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chester LDS Ward Chapel with Bp. Michael McDonald officiating. Friends may call at the Bidwell Funeral Home in St. Anthony Tuesday evening from 6 to 7:30 and at the Chester LDS Ward in Ashton on Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Ashton Pineview Cemetery.
