Juanita Mae Goode

   Juanita Mae Goode, Jan. 30, 1923 - Oct. 18, 2013

Juanita Mae Goode of Bozeman, Montana , Henry’s Lake, Idaho and St. Anthony, ID. was born in Corning, Ohio the daughter of Bradford Dale Pierce and Lilian Viola Kinsel Pierce. She was the oldest of six children, three brothers and two sisters.

Her early years were spent at the family farm in Moxahala, Ohio and their home in Corning, Ohio. Her father was a mechanic on steam engines for the New York Central Railroad. Their farm house had no plumbing or electricity. She took piano lessons when she was 11 and her family always liked to hear her play.

She graduated Capital University in Columbus, Ohio with a degree in business. She worked for a bank and the State of Ohio while she lived there. She met and eloped with one of the local morticians, James Girard Blower, and they moved to San Diego, Ca. James (Jerry) had to do 2 years apprenticeship in a mortuary in California to get his license. Juanita worked for the Bank of America while they were in San Diego. In l948 they moved to Santa Ana CA. purchased property, and built and started a funeral home. (Blower Brothers Mortuary) During this time Juanita worked for the Orange County Welfare Administration until she was needed at the funeral home in l951. It was here that their son, John G. Blower of St. Anthony, ID. was born. They were in business with Jerry’s brother, John S. Blower until 1980 when they all retired.

In l968, Jerry and Juanita bought a lot at Henry’s Lake and began building their dream cabin.

During her time living in Santa Ana, Juanita was a member of the Methodist Church and then the 1st Christian Church of Santa Ana. She was a member of the Kiwanis Wives Club and has been a member of the P.E.O. sisterhood since 1962.

Jerry died in June of l992 and Juanita began spending winters in California and summers in Henry’s Lake. Juanita had many close friends in both Santa Ana and Henry’s Lake. in l998 , Juanita became “reacquainted” with Stan Goode, following the death of his wife in l996. They began visiting occasionally at henry’s lake and were married in l999. Juanita sold her home in California and she and Stan spent winters at his home in Bozeman and summers at Henry’s Lake.

Following Stan’s death in June of this year, Juanita moved to St. Anthony, ID. to be with her son. She is survived by one son John Blower of St. Anthony, 2 Granddaughters and 5 Great Grandchildren

Private graveside services and interment will be in Bozeman Montana.
