Leon Edward "Rhody" Rhodehouse

   Leon Edward “Rhody” Rhodehouse 69, of Parker, ID. passed away Sunday Morning June 16, 2013 at the Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, ID.

Leon was born to Denzle Edward Rhodehouse and Linna Bergeson Rhodehouse of Parker, ID. on Oct. 22, 1943. He lived out his childhood years in Parker with his parents and older sister, graduating from South Fremont High School and later attended Rick’s College where he studied Agriculture and Engineering.

One thing Leon was known for was his love for music. He became an accomplished musician and singer performing with “The Offset”, and later the “Sage Junction Band”, touring the northwest throughout the 1970’s and l980’s. It was during this time that he met Gail Lea Sampson of Glasgow, MT. who later joined the band.

Leon and Gail were married on Oct. 1, 1977, and had three sons. During this time Leon worked for Multiple companies including Beddes Farm Center in St. Anthony and the Louisiana Pacific Sawmill in Rexburg.

The couple later divorced and Leon made the move to Las Vegas, NV. where he worked for Nolan Bloom in the construction industry. In the early 1990’s he returned to Rexburg to start his own auto repair business, known as “Rhody’s Shop.” Leon ran his business for many years raising his boys and training them in the field of auto repair. Rhodys Shop closed it’s doors when Leon retired in 2008.

“Rhody” had many trades, talents, and hobbies during his lifetime. These included welding, gem and mineral prospecting, golfing, hunting, fishing, guitar and amplifier development, tending to his garden and raspberry patch and was very passionate about his political views. Throughout his life, Leon also loved to travel and go camping with his boys.

Leon is survived by his sons; Toby Edward Rhodehouse (Shaina) Jackson, WY.; Briten James Rhodehouse (Sandy), Rexburg, ID.; Gavin Lee Rhodehouse, Post Falls, ID.; 2 Grandchildren and a sister - Trenna Dee Oswald, Blanding, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Parker LDS Church with Bp. Chris Stephens, officiating. Family will meet with friends at the Bidwell Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the Parker LDS Church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery.
