Marjorie B. Garrett

   Marjorie Beckstrom Garrett 74, a longtime resident of the St. Anthony area passed away Aug. 25, 2011 in the Madison Hospital following surgery.

Marge was born Sept. 22, 1936 in Mount Pleasant, UT.; the daughter of Harold Peter Beckstrom and Hazel Lee Beckstrom. Her younger years were spent in Utah where she attended West Jordan elementary school. As a teenager she moved to Idaho where she graduated from South Fremont High School in l954.

She was married to Tharen E. Garrett on Dec. 18, 1954 in Pocatello, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple Nov. 1955. They lived in Los Angeles CA. for two and a half years, Townsend, MT. for 6 years and St. Anthony for the remainder.

Marge enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking, tole painting and spending time with her family. She was very active in the community serving on the St. Anthony City Council for 5 years, served on the Park and Recreation Board, the Civil Defense Committee and was involved with English as a second Language (ESL).

She worked at Ive’s Sporting Goods for 9 years, a teacher’s aid for 7 years, was a Fremont County Sheriff’s dispatcher for 21 years and was an advanced Emergency Medical Technician.

She is survived by her husband Tharen of St. Anthony, Children - Becky Lee Jenkins, St. Anthony, Larry P. (Chari) Garrett, Kennewick, WA.; Laurel Ann (Garvin) Ricks, Felt, ID.; Nathan E. (Cecily) Garrett, Chehalis, WA.; Jenny Lynn (Brent) Johnson, Rigby, ID.; 17 grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Geraldine Anton and 3 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Aug. 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Anthony Second LDS Ward Church with Bp. Brent Thompson, Officiating. Friends may call at the Bidwell Funeral Home Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the Church Monday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Riverview Cemetery.
