Marion L. Stoddard

   Marion Leslie Stoddard 99, of Egin, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rexburg, ID. of complications due to a fall.

Marion was born July 11, 1914 in Egin ID. the son of Leslie Marion and Olive Lucille Ingram Stoddard, the oldest of 10 children. He married Blanche Black on Oct. 3, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were married for 78 years.

He worked for Remingtons, managing potato sorting crews. He and a brother-in-law, Irvin Mace, decided to go into farming. He loved horses and was a member of the Parker Posse. He milked cows and raised beef cattle his entire life. He enjoyed growing up on the farm with his brothers and sisters. He left school at the age of 12, to enter the work force to help support his family. Education was always important to him, he received his GED and his real estate license at the age of 75. He eventually rented his ground to Crapos and Doug Hanks. He also worked on construction with his sons doing back hoe work. He lost his right leg in a accident in Jan. of l966.

He was a hard worker and gave much service to the community. He loved his family and his church callings, serving as ward clerk, Stake Mission Leader, was in the ward Bishoprics for over 25 years, serving as a counselor and as a bishop.

He is survived by his wife, Blanche, sons- DeVerl (Pat) Stoddard, Payson, UT.; E. Gene (Judy) Stoddard, Neil (Shelle) Stoddard, Egin, ID.; His daughters; M. Arlene (Sylvan B.) Orr, Salmon, ID.; JoAnn (Bradley) Jensen, Rexburg, ID.; a daughter-in-law Alane Burgener Morley, Salt Lake City, Ut. He is also survived by 26 Grandchildren, 91 Great grandchildren and 12 Great great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lynn Stoddard, a grandson, Jared Bradley Jensen, a great grandson, Mason Taft Fisher, a daughter-in-law, Lana McBride Stoddard, Sisters; Vida Crapo, Beatrice Stone, Marie Hathaway, Vae Mace, sister-in-laws; Wanda Stoddard and Donna Stoddard, brothers; Maurice Stoddard, Frank Stoddard, brother in laws ; Maurice Crapo, Jack Stone, Bud Hathaway, Irvin Mace.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Egin Bench LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Brandon Moon, officiating. Friends may call at the Bidwell Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and at the church Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. just prior to services. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery.
