Maxine Edgington- Bidwell Funeral Home of St. Anthony, Idaho
Deloris Maxine Edgington

Deloris Maxine Edgington, 86, of St. Anthony, Idaho, passed away peacefully in her home on Nov. 11, 2015 surrounded by family. She was born October 31, 1929 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the daughter of Roy Ernest and Nellie Marguerette Elser. Maxine grew up in Lewisville, Idaho and enjoyed her childhood and loving family. She actively sought to preserve the spirit of love and frugality that she experienced in her youth.

She met her eternal companion, Jerry E. Edgington, in 1950. They were married Oct. 22, 1952, and were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1954. Unitedly they worked toward academic pursuits which would open doors of opportunity allowing them to fulfill their dream of raising a family together. She supported and sustained him then and every day of their lives together. Her life was centered on her discipleship, her spouse and raising her six children. Motherhood was her greatest source of joy. Her children learned, worked and loved as they watched her Christlike example.

Maxine will long be remembered for her undying optimism and encouragement to everyone she met. All were welcome in her home where they were treated like royalty. She was a woman of gratitude. She instilled a love of nature in her children through her continual expressions of gratitude for God’s creations. Her early morning walks throughout the community were very special to her.

When Maxine and Jerry moved to St. Anthony in 1957 they sunk their roots deeply and were committed to loving and serving their community. Maxine served faithfully in many church callings and service organizations; however her most defining characteristics were reflected in her quiet anonymous acts of service. In her final years Maxine was determined not to leave her beloved St. Anthony.

She is survived by her children, Jerry Roy (Marche’) Edgington of Boise, Idaho, Bradley (Stacey) Edgington of Orem, Utah, Brent (Marci) Edgington of Provo, Utah, Chad (Ann) Edgington of Fruit Heights, Utah, Linde (Kent) Huntsman of Georgetown, Texas, and Shawn (Kara) Edgington of Provo; 34 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Myra Tice and Oral Elser.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, her parents, Roy and Nellie Elser, and her siblings, Joy Aldridge and Alvin Elser.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the St. Anthony LDS Stake Center, 247 E. Fourth North. A viewing will be held that morning from 9:30 to 10:30. There will also be a viewing from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Stake Center.
