Nelda May Hebdon Baker

   Nelda May Hebdon Baker passed away, Aug. 8, 2014 at the age of 91 in the Rexburg Care Center.

Born May 25, 1923, Nelda was the 5th of 7 children born to T.R. and Mary Louise Hebdon. Growing up on the family farm in Rigby, ID., Nelda learned to work hard and find joy in simple things.

Nelda attended Ricks College and graduated with a degree in elementary education. She taught school for one year in Iona before her marriage.

On June 29, 1943 the was married in the Salt Lake Temple to the love of her life, Ray Baker. They made their home in Newdale and a few years later moved to Teton, Idaho where she resided until her death.

Nelda spent most of her life as a homemaker caring for her family and helping on the family farm. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed her many opportunities to serve in various callings. She leaves behind a great legacy of love and service that will stand as an example to her posterity forever.

She is the mother of seven children; Cheryl (deceased), Wayne (Kay) Baker, Teton, ID.; Marsha (Dennis) Phillips, St. Anthony, ID.; Max (Kathryn) Baker, Farmington, UT.; Phil (Valerie) Baker, Teton City, ID.; Marc (Ruth) Baker, American Fork, UT.; and Julie (Dee) Mackliet, Farmington, UT. She is also survived by her sister Donalue Hart, Idaho Falls, ID. and a Bro-in-Law, Jerry Hovis, Idaho Falls, ID. 34 Grandchildren and 70 great Grandchildren. Nelda was preceded in death by her husband Ray in 2011, her parents, her brothers Deward and Eldon and her sisters, Wanda Erma and Barbara.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 14 at 11:00 a.m. in the Teton LDS Church with Bishop Craig Carter, Officiating. Friends may call at the Bidwell Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery. Family suggest donations be made to the Primary Children’s Medical Center in Nelda’s Memory
