Paul W. Hopperdietzel

   Paul Walter Hopperdietzel 84, a longtime resident of St. Anthony passed away Nov. 6, 2014 in the Eastern Idaho Regional Medial Center.

Paul was born Sept. 19, 1930 at Merino, Colorado the son of Carl W. and Lyndia Lenhard Hopperdietzel. He first attended school in Merino, then Brush Co. graduating from high school in the Concordia Lutheran School in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He also attended College at the Colorado State University.

During World War 2 the family moved to Idaho Falls and one of his first jobs was delivering telegrams. The family then moved to Rexburg where he helped his father in the Co-op Cheese Factory. During the Korean War he was drafted into the Army and took tank training. He moved to St. Anthony and along with his father started the Hopperdietzel Cheese Factory which he helped own and operate until its closure in l977. He then was active in developing the Hopperdietzel Sand Creek Ponderosa development operation where he lived during the summers.

He married Beth Bagley on Jan. 21, 1974. She helped him operate the cheese factory and the Sand Creek Ponderosa. She passed away Jan. 30, 1994.

Paul then married Donna Mae Cassidy on June 12, 1994 in Rapid City South Dakota. They have made their home in St. Anthony and on Sand Creek.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church and was always supportive in it’s activity and finances. Paul and Donna were braile workers at the St. Johns Lutheran Church for many years. He was active in civic affairs supporting the St. Anthony Free Fishermans Breakfast, the Fremont Co. Search and Rescue and the St. Anthony Volunteer Fire Dept. Paul was a loving husband, Stepfather and a friend to all people and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Donna of St. Anthony, Step Children; Brenda Perry, Gay Green, both of Kearns, UT.; Tamara (Dallas) Furness, Terreton, ID.; Brett (Debbie) Hall, Pittsburgh, PA.; Steven (Jennifer) Hall, Draper, UT. Jackie (Wally) Orvit, Fruita, Co. Ron Wehnes, Houston, TX.; Pam (Jim) Rieves, Monahan, TX. 15 Step Grandchildren, 26 Step Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Carol Niemeier, Meridian, ID. and two nephews, Carl and Monica Niemeier, Spokane Valley, WA.; and Dan and Saundra Niemeier, Boise, ID.; Besides his wife Beth and Parents he was preceded in death by one great grandchild and a niece Linda Woehl.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday Nov. 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hope Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls with Pastor Ryan Barns officiating. (2071 12th Street)
Friends may call at the Bidwell Funeral Home in St. Anthony Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and at the Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls, Wednesday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Rexburg, Cemetery. condolences may be sent to www.bidwellfuneralhonme.com
