   Shirley Mason Davis Dexter, 86,  longtime resident of Egin Bench, died Sunday, November 4th  at 3:00 pm in the Homestead Living Center in St. Anthony, Idaho with her family surrounding her. She was born February 6, 1926 in Gunlock, Utah to George Arthur and Patience Hope Nielsen Davis; the 5th of 8 children. Growing up in the mining town of Pioche, Nevada, she graduated Valedictorian of her class from Lincoln County High School.
She met John Stewart Dexter while working in San Francisco during World War II. They were married on the 23rd of February 1945 by Bishop Nalder.  Keeping their promise to be sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple later in their life. While John served as a nurse on hospital trains they lived in San Francisco. After their time in San Francisco, Shirley came to Idaho and met the Dexter family. She loved the community and the people in St. Anthony.  After driving for years from St. Anthony to Egin Bench, they moved to the farm.  Egin became home. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; serving in various capacities over the years. Shirley was an avid reader, an accomplished seamstress, and a creative knitter. She quilted and crocheted and loved her sewing. Her hands were busy all of the time.
She is survived by her Husband, John Stewart (Stew) Dexter and her children: John (Sandy) Dexter, Salem; Katherine (Joe) Thueson, St. Anthony; Mary Blaisdell, Malad; Nedra (Kerry) Covington, Meridian; Lee (Ann) Dexter, Rexburg; her sister Betty Biggs and brother Niels Davis of Utah. She has 19 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Nolan Blaisdell; a great grandson, Keagan Shaun Wood; a grandson, Shaun Stewart Dexter; 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and her parents.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 the Egin Bench church with Bishop Brandon Moon officiating. The family will greet guests from 10:00 to 10:45 am Just prior to the service. The family will greet guests at the Bidwell Funeral Home in St. Anthony Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
