Iva Vae Stoddard Mace

   Iva Vae Mace 96, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 at the Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rexburg.

Vae was born Oct. 15, 1917 at Parker, Idaho the daughter of Leslie M. Stoddard and Olive Lucille Ingram Stoddard. She was the 3rd of 10 children. She grew up in the Egin Bench, Parker and Heman areas where she attended her elementary education attending St. Anthony, High School.

She married Irvin Raymond Mace on July 30, 1935 at Egin Bench by Bp. Junius Wardle. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1939. They lived a short time in Teton prior to moving to Parker where they have resided. She helped her husband farm and raised cattle in the Parker & Kilgore areas. She and Irvin spent many winters in Arizona and loved it there. Mr. Mace passed away on June 17, 1998.

Vae worked at Clarks Furniture store in St. Anthony, and was secretary to the superintendent of Fremont Co. School Dist. She then worked in the admissions office at Ricks College for 8 years. She was active in the LDS Church serving in many positions over the years. She loved crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, fishing, genealogy, family history and pro basketball. She was a big fan of the Phoenix Suns. She loved and appreciated all her grandchildren and looked forward to their phone calls, cards and visits. She especially appreciated the loving care she received at the Homestead and Hospice.

She is survived by her three children - Merlynn (Gary) Thompson, Rexburg, ID.; Robert (Lola Kaye) Mace, Parker, ID.; and Jana (Rodney) Gittins, Logan, UT. 11Grandchildren, 30 Great Grand Children, 19 Great Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers - Marion Stoddard, Harold Stoddard, both of Rexburg, Louis Stoddard,Egin Bench, ID. and sister Phillis Bradshaw, Annis, ID. Besides her husband she was prececed in death by a baby brother Maurice Stoddard, Sisters Vida Crapo, Marie Hathaway and Beatrice Stone and a brother Frank Stoddard.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 12 noon in the Parker LDS Church with Bp. Brent Lee Williams, officiating. Friends may call at the Parker Church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery under the direction of the Bidwell Funeral Home.
