Vera June Michaelis

   Vera June Christensen Michaelis, 85, passed away April 10, 2012 in the St. Anthony Homestead Assisted Living Center.

Vera was born Dec. 11, 1926 at Victor, Idaho the daughter of Hyrum and Valeria June Campbell Christensen. She grew up in the Teton Basin. Her father ws a miner so they moved around allot and she attended many elementary schools at different mining camps. She did graduate from junior high in Driggs and High School in San Francisco.

She married Walter W. Michaelis on Nov. 20, 1950 The marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. Besides Arizona they lived in Parowan, Utah, Rexburg, ID.; Laverkin, Utah moving to St. Anthony in 2000. Mr. Michaelis died Oct. 24, 2006.
Vera was active in the LDS Church serving in several positions. She was also active in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers serving in many different camps through out the west. At the time of her death she was the captain of the Fort Henry’s Camp in St. Anthony.

Vera is survived by her children - Sue Siepert, St. Anthony, David (Cathy) Michaelis, Rexburg, ID.; and Donald (Leisa) Michaelis, Newport, Virginia. Siblings - Keith Christensen, Filmore Utah and LaNean Kellogg, McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania. 12 Grandchildren 20 great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother Miland, two sisters Mavis & Laura and one son Kent and two Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Anthony Second LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Brent Thompson, Officiating. Friends may call at the Church Wednesday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Victor Cemetery.
